TIP FROM STANI
To move around the city, locals typically use public transport,
including buses, trolleybuses, and trams. Download the "IDS
BK" app to buy tickets. Locals also frequently use Uber and
Bolt, which are a bit more expensive but convenient and fast.
IMPORTANT: Sadly, taxi drivers in Bratislava are known for
overcharging tourists by taking longer routes or asking for
high prices. My personal advice is to avoid them if possible. If
you must use a taxi, agree on the price in advance. Don’t say I
didn’t warn you! {
STAY SAFE IN
BRATISLAVA
Bratislava is generally a safe city when it
comes to petty crime and tourist safety.
However, it’s always wise to use common
sense, be aware of your belongings, and
exercise usual caution while traveling.
If you decide to go out and party, you
might encounter some drunk people on
the streets, but this is similar to any other
city in Europe.
Slovakia can be quite a conservative
country, although Bratislava is often
considered a "liberal" bubble. LGBT+
people are generally safe, but you might
receive some looks if you hold hands with
a same-sex partner or kiss in public. Due
to the current government turmoil, many
Bratislava residents are in opposition to
far-right tendencies, so you’ll see more
rainbow flags and a more supportive
environment than in the past. If you
travel elsewhere in the country, it's best
to be more cautious.
Enjoy your time in Bratislava and feel free
to reach out if you have any concerns or
need assistance!
