PAVEL KUBANÍK
Pavel is an Assistant Professor in the
Romani Studies Section, where he teaches
practical Romani language courses, field
research courses, and studies on Romani
groups worldwide, along with sociolinguistic
issues related to the Romani language. He
has a long-standing interest in the situation
of the Romani language in the Czech
Republic. His other research interests
include language socialization. He has
gained experience through his visits and
stays with Roma communities in Poland,
Czechia, and Slovakia. Alongside Helena
Sadílková, he serves as Editor-in-Chief of the
Roma studies journal Romano džaniben.
Since 2010, he has also organized the
informal lecture series Romistické utopie
[Romistic Utopias], focusing on the results
and challenges of current research on
Roma.

ELIN HAF GRUFFYDD JONES
Elin is Director of the University of Wales
Centre for Advanced Welsh and Celtic
Studies, a multi-disciplinary research centre
of some 25 members of staff and 12
postgraduate students, located at the site of
the National Library of Wales in
Aberystwyth. She started her career as
Research Assistant with the Mercator
Network and has worked in the field of
minoritised languages for over three
decades.
She co-edited with Enrique Uribe-Jongbloed
Social Media and Minority Languages:
Convergence and the Creative Industries
(Multilingual Matters, 2013). Between 2017
and 2019, she was a member of the Council
of Europe Expert Group on Media, advising
the Committee of Experts of the European
Charter for Regional or Minority Languages
and is currently working with the Council of
Europe’s Steering Committee on Antidiscrimination, Diversity and Inclusion
(CDADI) on matters relating to media and
regional or minority languages.
She is founding member of the
International Association for Minority
Language Media Research and is President
of ELEN – the European Language Equality
Network.
