HANA KRESO
Hana Kreso is the coordinator of the
Coppieters Foundation, a Brussels-based
think tank focused on European affairs. The
foundation develops new ideas and
produces knowledge on the management of
cultural and linguistic diversity, collective
and minority rights, multi-level governance,
decentralization, state and constitutional
reform, statehood processes, selfdetermination, migration, peace studies,
and the protection of human rights in
Europe.
She obtained a Master's in International
Relations at IBEI in Barcelona and a double
Master's in European Union Studies from
LUISS in Rome and the European College
Foundation of Parma. She also holds a
degree in Law from Parma University in
Italy.
Hana began her career working for nonprofit organizations in Catalonia, the
Netherlands, and Brussels, focusing on
sustainability and Corporate Social
Responsibility.

RUTH KIRCHER
Ruth is a sociolinguist specializing in
multilingualism and minority languages,
focusing on language endangerment,
maintenance, and revitalization. Her
research spans language attitudes, societal
language policy, and intergenerational
transmission, with work conducted across
Europe and North America.
She co-edited Research Methods in
Language Attitudes (Cambridge University
Press, 2022) and emphasizes knowledge
translation, recently working in Fryslân to
promote West Frisian. At the ECMI, Ruth
works on research on Danish-German
minority issues, focusing on minority
languages and intergroup relations in the
border region.
Ruth holds degrees from Heidelberg,
Durham, and Queen Mary University of
London. She is an affiliated Associate
Professor at Concordia University and a
member of CCERBAL at the University of
Ottawa.
